To be honest, neither the bride nor groom actually remember their first few encounters. It is believed they first met at one of the their mutual best friends', Andy and Leah Fultz, legendary Halloween parties. Erica has foggy memories of Patrick DJ'ing said parties, but doesn't recall much more (there may have been alcohol involved in the fuzzying of this memory). The two remained acquaintances throughout Andy and Leah's courtship and engagement, and both served in the bridal party for their wedding in 2012. They would occasionally hear each other's name when stories were told by either Leah or Andy, but did not give it much thought. To keep Andy's friends straight, in her head Erica classified Patrick as "the nice guy who talks a lot and has a kid." Fast forward four years to late 2016, when the Fultzs decided to host a New Years Eve party. Patrick and Erica were both invited. Prior to attending the party, Patrick asked Andy if there would be any "single ladies” in attendance. Andy informed Patrick that Erica would likely be going, and Patrick recalled that he liked Erica's smile. Patrick friended Erica on Facebook and sent her a message (#slideintotheDMs). While Patrick did go to the party, Erica was unable to attend due to a death in the family. A few weeks after the party, Erica sent Patrick a message back, and they began corresponding. Soon after, Patrick asked Erica to dinner, and the rest, as they say, is history... |
