Aloha! Thank you for visiting our registry website! You may be asking "Where's all the pots, pans, vacuums, dish rags, etc, that I'm used to seeing on a registry?" That's a very good question. We (Patrick & Erica) have been slowly building a life together over the last few years, and have picked up most of the normal housewares that are typically asked for in a registry. So, instead of asking for a new knife set or stand up mixer, we decided to go a more non-traditional route (because, let's face it, we're a bit of a non-traditional couple), and register for our honeymoon!
Now you may be asking "But guys, why Hawaii? Why a cruise? Why THIS cruise?" First of all, what's with all the questions? Secondly, we chose to go on this specific cruise around the Hawaiian islands for several reasons:
1. Our wedding falls right in the beginning of hurricane season. Not being ones to tempt faint, we we wanted to stay clear of the typical hurricane zones, which cancels out the typical honeymoon spots (Caribbean, Mexico, etc). A quick Google search shows that the best places to travel to during hurricane season are Europe, Africa, and Hawaii. While the first two choices sounded awesome, and we hope to travel there someday, it just wasn't in the cards this time. Plus, Patrick has always wanted to go to Hawaii, and Erica just wanted to "go somewhere with a beach."
B. When planning our honeymoon, Patrick was pushing for a cruise, as we took our first vacation as a couple cruising to Bermuda with some good friends. It was on this trip that Patrick fell in love with cruising. Erica, however, was hesitant, as while she enjoyed cruising, she would prefer to just "lay out on the beach and drink margaritas all day." Plus, she didn't think that there would be a cruise to Hawaii.
Erica did many Google and Pinterest searches over a few weeks looking for "all inclusive resorts Hawaii," but sadly didn't come up with anything promising. Also, when researching Hawaii vacations, she found so.many.options. Did you know there are SIX islands that make up Hawaii? And that they all contain unique attractions and landscapes? Yeah, we didn't remember that from Geography class either. Patrick was still pushing for a cruise, so one night, Erica begrudgingly searched for Hawaii cruises, and stumbled upon NCL's website. The couple peruised the site for the next several days, and fell in love with the idea that they could visit five islands in seven days, while not having to worry about the transportation to and from a hotel. So, after much discussion and deliberation (on Erica's part at least), on a Tuesday night, we threw caution to the wind and booked the cruise. We set sail Saturday, September 7, 2019!
