Alan and I met on an online dating site, but after meeting, we soon realized that our paths had crossed many times before. We grew up within 10 miles of each other, and knew many of the same people. We hung out in similar locations. I even used to work at a pizza shop that Alan ordered from frequently. 

So we were already familiar with each other's backgrounds!
